The VIS-8 extension system is designed for the highest performance display devices on the market. There is support for USB, keyboard/mouse and serial (RS232) as well as full duplex stereo audio. All signals are digitized and transmitted over three fibers, then transparently restored by the receiver. The VIS-8 Dual-Link DVI extender has a convenient front panel display for determining system link status. All connections are standard so no special cabling is required.

The VIS-8 Dual-Link DVI KVM Extender does not alter the resolution of the source video. Any resolution that can be transmitted via dual-link will be supported, up to 3200 x 2400 pixels.

Three fibers is the most fiber-efficient way of transporting the dual-link DVI KVM signals as well as all the supporting desktop devices, such as keyboard, mouse, serial, full-duplex audio, and stereo graphics emitter. The system allocates 2 fibers to the dual-link DVI signals and 1 fiber to everything else (KMAS). The VIS-8 Dual-Link DVI fiber optic KVM extension system is fully compatible with the Thinklogical DCS fiber-in / fiber-out digital cross-point switches.

The VIS-8 fiber optic KVM extender is a feature rich product designed to extend dual-link DVI video and KMAS signals. The video source must be single or dual-link DVI. The VIS-8 KVM system will support USB, PS2, and Sun (legacy) keyboard and mouse, USB tablets, full duplex stereo audio, and serial. The VIS-8 KVM transmitter has connections for a local single link DVI display and keyboard/mouse.

The VIS-8 kvm extender is a digital fiber optic transmitter/receiver system. All video, keyboard, mouse, USB, audio and serial signals from the computer source are digitized and converted to light at the transmitter. These optical signals are then sent to the VIS-8 fiber optic KVM receiver via two fibers. Two fibers support the dual-link DVI video signals and the other supports all other KVM signals.

NOTE: The VIS-8 KVM Extender, as with all other Thinklogical kvm extenders is fully compatible with all other Thinklogical kvm extenders. The transmitter from one Vis extender may be used with any Vis extender receiver (excepting the Dual-Link DVI products). This unique feature allows customers to extend digital (DVI) sources to analog (RGB) destinations and vice versa.

The receiver converts the video signals back from optical to dual-link DVI formats, which allows the use of dual-link DVI display devices. No external converter boxes are required. The system also has connectivity for all common keyboards and mouse types, USB, PS2 and Sun legacy. All electronic conversion, remapping and even international translation is supported. No more keyboard converter boxes. Everything you need to assure compatibility between the computer and the user station devices is bundled into the VIS-8 system already.
